I dreampt I was camping with my mom's side of the family, and my grandma was in a stroller (don't know why it wasn't a wheelchair) because she didn't have the energy to walk around. So I decide to take grandma for a walk around the campground, right?
Well, I want to go to the other side of this very large, wide river with her, but the only way across is a very very precarious series of ladders and thin wooden bridges. The only stable part is a thick wooden plank that spans over the middle part, but that is encrusted in ice.
Still, I am determined to get to the other side with grandma. By this point in my dream I am crying quite violently because I know this is the last time I am going to be able to go for a walk with her.
So, somehow I manage to pull her up the first thin ladder, and on to the next one, which is horizontal over the lake. I now realise the lake is full of huge sea serpants waiting for people like me to fall in and be messily devoured. I manage to drag grandma in her stroller over this second ladder as well. I am at this point: terrified, but determined to go on.
I finally make it to the very wide, long plank in the middle, but it is very slick, and already thick with people going back and forth. I have to walk along the edge because there is no room in the middle. I can see the sea monsters swimming back and forth in the murkey river below.
Of course, I start sliding.
So, I lay down flat on the bridge and hook my fingers into a groove, while holding on dearly to grandma's storller. She seems to be enjoying the thrill of it all, as she is giggling quite happily now.
Somehow I manage to scoot on my belly all the way across this icy part. Now there are stairs leading up to the embankment on the other side of the river.
Now I suddenly become horrible uncoordinated and I can't figure out how to get grandma up the stairs. I sit down and start crying again, not wanting to turn back and face that horrible bridge again.
Then a small girl who is coming down the stairs, grabs grandma's stroller and starts slowly carrying her up the stairs. I am so greatful, and I follow her.
Somehow, the tiny little girl pulls grandma to safety at the top of the stairs. I hug her and grandma both.
I am kind of fuzzy on the details of the rest of my dream, but I do remember that we walked around a bit, then went back over the bridge. Going back wasn't as hard, but it was 10 times as scary. The bridge and all the hooked ladders seemed to have gone higher up into the air, and gotten flimsier.
We made it back though...
I really don't know what to make of this dream. I really don't know if I WANT to know what this dream means.
I wish I lived closer to my grandma now... I miss her so much.
