9 pounds lost... I am so pleased! I went shopping this weekend, to take advantage of the labor day sale at the mall, and I am now back in the misses section. SCORE! It feels so good... I didn't even buy one item from the women's section. I've still got quite a ways go to before my goal weight is reached, but I'm on my way at last. Hopefully, by the end of the week I'll have lost another pound and I can say I've lost 10. I'm trying not to lose too fast though, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. A pound a week is good.

Okay, I'm going to go to the mall again now and get my mum something for her birthday.

Okay, I posted this once, but now that it's actually WORKING, I thought I'd post it again. I'm doing a simple calorie-counting "diet" where you just keep track of how much you eat in a day. To find out how many calories you get each day:

goal weight x 10 + 1/2 again + 200 for every 1/2 hour exercise = daily calories

soooo... if your goal weight is 130 (that's mine)

130 x 10 (1,300) + 650 = 1950

So, every morning I write down "1950" on my white board, and when I eat, I subtract the calories from that so I know exactly what I'm at. I also round up to the nearest 50 calories, just to keep myself from over-eating. If I exercise for 1/2 hour, I add 200 to my total, and I get an extra snack.

So far, I've kept within my calorie range every single day, and as I just said, I've lost 9 lbs. I'm on my 4th week of doing it, and I'd say that the 1st week is the hardest, because I was so used to just eating whatever whenever. Also remember, this is a lifestyle change, not really a diet. If you get to your goal weight, and then start eating however you want again, you'll gain it back (duh).

It's also important not to eat after 8 pm so you don't go to sleep with food in your tummy. If you go to sleep after eating, the food just gets stored (read: turns to fat) because you're not burning anything. On my 2nd week, I ate some ice cream before I went to bed and even though I didn't go over my daily calories, I gained 2 lbs overnight (I have no idea how this happened with 2 scoops of ice cream, but it did). So don't eat before bed, it's bad!

If anybody has any more questions, just leave a comment or e-mail me. Good luck ^_^
